Yes, all of my mail is addressed to [livejournal.com profile] chocolate_chip様 because my apartment is located in 1873. Along with every store I go to. Trufax.

This all reminds me of.... well, I have a friend who also lived in Japan, and she frequented some Japan-related message boards. And somebody on them apparently claimed that "there are no nicknames in Japan. They don't even have a word for 'nickname.'"

... ORLY? 'cus あだ名 is kind of the word for nickname. I'm pretty sure my host brother's daughter, whose name was Asa, kept being called Aa-chan. BUT I GUESS THAT'S NOT A NICKNAME.

And my ESS students don't call each other Nagi (Nagisa), Sari (Sarina), Shokotan (Shoko), and Banchi (Ryoko). No, never, unless by never you mean every day.

God I wish I were a member of ffr so I could tell this chick off. "ANATA IS A COMMONLY USED WORD." Right, when people are trying to say "you" in normal context EXCEPT NOT.

Don't you love it when people act like they know more than they do and are condescending? *siiiiigh*

She's completely impossible to reason with, too, and can barely go half a comment without bringing up her InuYasha lolicon porn, which is why so few people try to correct her.

Said poster has never signed up to be a circle at a Japanese doujinshi event. I love getting things addressed to "Rachel-sama"

Or been a Volks customer. Or else I'm wrong and Volks thinks I'm the Emperor. That must be it.

Which reminds me, my News came, but yours didn't. Did your membership expire?

I didn't think so, I tend to renew every year during GW and GW hasn't passed yet. So who knows, I don't really need it particularly when I have to pack so much up now. ;;_;; And at this point, I have no idea when I will be back in Japan post this trip. And if what Ria says is true, Sato is not exactly going to be open to me....

I do need Kakeru, Chika and their outfits. SO CUTE!

Volks thinks you're the Empress XD;; Or possibly descended from the Shogunate.

I think this person is just getting an extremely skewered view of all of Japan being the housewife of a rich ex-pat. It's like imagining all the US is like living in a suburb of NYC. though seriously that ore one was ridiculous. I'd just seen a Japanese movie on the plane and the main male character used ore all the time and he was 30+, it was not animated, he was not yakuza, and he lived in Tokyo.

That she couldn't go with kids. And let's be honest, if I were to go back to Japan the chances I would have a baby or small toddler with me on the trip are pretty high. I do plan to breastfeed until the baby is a year at least and you can't easily just drop your toddler for a week or two and honestly, I wouldn't want to.

Hm. I can't remember ever seeing a baby there, but there was a girl about 7-8 last time I went. (Of course, she was Japanese, so if she looked 7, she was probably 15, lol.)

I have seen babies/toddlers at SCC, though their mothers were circles, not shoppers. But if you can't bring a baby to Sato or Dolpa, that pretty much excludes me.

Every time you link to something there, I end up losing an hour or two browsing. Darn you! ::fistshake::

...and yes, I agree with your comment.

....ahhhh.
I don't know much, just enough to know that "-sama" is still used in the ordinary context...
I guess ranting like that makes people feel better about themselves because "I know more than you do"...and unfortunately they don't and are just being unfortunately horribly rude about it :x
:(
