I have to say, the gym is really nice. A million times nicer than the one I tried going to in the States, for significantly less money. (I'm on a reduced plan, though, so I can only go for 90 minutes a day, which is why it's less expensive.) Every time I use a weight machine or an exercise machine, what I do and for how long is recorded via infra-red on my personal gym wristband. Then I can put that info into the Big Computer, which tracks my activity as well as weight, blood pressure, and body fat. The locker room is super nice and clean, there are free foot massagers, and all the exercise machines have their own built-in TV. There's a pool, too, and lots of classes.

However, even though the gym itself is cheaper, I didn't think when I signed up about how much it would cost to go to the gym and back every day. >_> It's almost twice as much as the membership, which is a real kick in the teeth. On the days that are not too hot/cold/rainy/busy, I can probably ride my bike there, but that almost defeats the purpose of going, and I'd probably still have to pay to park my bike.

Sigh.

*sigh* So many things that I want to post, but can't find the time before I forget about them. (Can't find the time = too lazy.) I've been trying to type up something about my trip, but every time I try, I bore myself too much to keep going. :P

I joined a gym. I haven't started going yet; the orientation is tomorrow. I can't say as I'm really excited about it, since I really don't want something else that's going to eat away at my already poorly-managed time, but I'm so sick of continuing to put on weight and feeling blah all the time. Without a gym, the only exercise I can do is walking, which isn't a really good option for me, since I have foot and knee issues, and I can't be out in strong sunlight for long periods of time. I know that going to the gym is not only going to improve my body, but also make me feel better emotionally, and probably help me use my time better, but I still can't get myself excited about it.

The good part is, I'll have a workout buddy. I'm not sure if I've posted about the new AET at my school other than my initial worries about her, but she turned out to be really cool. We have lots of things in common, but not so many that I feel like I'm in competition with her for my identity. Anyway, we'll be going to the gym together.

But still.... *clings to free time* ;__;

I went and saw The A-Team. I'd heard it was bad, and I already knew from seeing the previews that I wouldn't like it (because in order for me to like it, Murdock would have to be spot-on, and I could already tell he wasn't), but I had to go see it anyway. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but it definitely wasn't good, either. So much of it was like.... Why is this happening? What does this scene have to do with the plot? Why are they trying to make Face the main character? Why did the van have to get destroyed? Why is Hannibal's hair dyed for only one scene? Why do I feel like the costume designer has never seen the actual show? Why in the name of God are Face and Murdock calling B.A. Bosco?! WHY WAS THERE NO MONEY SHOT OF A CAR FLIPPING OVER???? Not to mention, obvious CGI was painfully obvious. The script and plot should have been re-done entirely. The only time it really felt like The A-Team was when they broke Murdock out of the hospital with the movie set-up. That was a moment of genius. The poor guy who played Murdock tried, but they really should have gotten someone else for him and Face. B.A. was surprisingly good, but Liam Neeson was only barely passable as Hannibal. Mostly, the whole thing was just disappointing. (And the thought of the fic that people are going to write using nu-team characterizations makes me cringe, not that A-Team fic was that great to begin with.) It does make me want to marathon the original series again, though.

(All of this brings up the age-old heartbreaking question: Why was there never an A-Team/Knight Rider crossover? They were on the same network at the same time! It would have been the most epic epicness to ever epic.)

I don't think I've mentioned it here, but one of my main sources of stress is that my parents sold their house and are moving to North Carolina. The main reason for this is that they fangirl some fundie Christian speaker who lives in NC, and have thus been convinced that NC is the land of milk and honey. But I'm very amused that the town next to the town they'll be living in is called Gay. Anyway, this means that every day, I get long, frantic e-mails and/or phone calls from my mother about what of my stuff that's in the basement should be gotten rid of, and what should be put into storage. I also need to do stuff like change my permanent address, and I don't even really know how I'm supposed to go about that.

Skipping Japanese class right now because I'm feeling sickish and it's monsooning out. Got some cute shirts on sale at Peace Now and Algonquins yesterday with [livejournal.com profile] rkold. One of them doesn't fit, but I'll keep it around as inspiration to exercise more. I was very good and didn't buy any skirts, only tops.

For Japan peeps, I've got my Toy Story 3 ticket, and WILL be going opening day (7/10). Probably to T-Joy, since it's the closest to Kyoto Station, and also their sound system is spectacular. Who's with me?

I woke up this morning from an awesome Kyou Kara Maou! dream in which Conrad had been kidnapped, and Yuuri went into total ass-kicking mode to get him back. Not exactly Maou-mode, because even though he was powered-up, Yuuri was still totally himself, just pissed off and taking names. It was so cool.

Except then it was 4:30 in the morning, and I couldn't fall back asleep. ;_; Then, when I finally fell back asleep at 6:30, I overslept, couldn't find any suitable clothes to wear, and had to skip stopping at 7-11 in order to get to work on time. And since it's exams now, the cafeteria was closed, so I had to eat overpriced Calorie Mate from the vending machine for breakfast.

Calorie Mate is exactly as appetizing as it sounds, although it's not something to help athletes put on muscle, which you might guess from the name. Calorie Mate is sort of Japan's version of an energy bar. It tastes like cardboard (I actually mean that literally), bears no resemblance to any food ever found or created by natural means, and according to the package, is 100% nutritionally balanced. It is the yin to an energy bar's yang; instead of being a slab of congealed sludge which is impossible to chew and guaranteed to give you stomach cramps and constipation, Calorie Mate is a crumbly, moisture-less cookie bar that can't be swallowed without the aid of at least half a liter of water, and is guaranteed to give you stomach cramps and constipation. It's also the only food other than corn soup sold in any of my school's five vending machines.

Needless to say, between the lack of sleep and the rock in my stomach, I'm not having a very good day. I demand super-fun tiems tomorrow to make up for it! >:| [edit] Okay, finding out that my will-call angel got all the protos I wanted AND a bar of Xmvlzencab helps quite a bit, too.

Oh, and I must amend my post from yesterday. Today she spent only half the day on facebook. The other half was spent on twitter.

Life is still stressy, but actually, I'm currently pleased with myself because I rode my bike all the way to Kamigamo Jinja and back! Between the giant hill and the monthly massive blood loss, I didn't think I was going to be able to do it.

Will bitch about stressful things later, if I ever find the time.

Vacation was kind of meh. It was a combination of super-awesome (surprise bottles of Midway and XCDL13 in the mail, Shinsaibashi's getting a Krispy Kreme) and super-suck (e-mail getting hacked, customs lost one of my packages). The weather was terrible, so I wasn't able to go out and do much sightseeing, and even though it was the perfect opportunity to clean and study, I didn't do much of that, either. So now I feel unfulfilled and irritated with myself.

I finished the Edgeworth game. It was fun, but needed more Phoenix. It would have been awesome to play against Phoenix as Edgeworth. I liked the "logic" addition, but sometimes some of the connections you had to make were completely illogical. I also liked being able to point out contradictions in the evidence right away instead of having to wait for the right person to say the right thing at trial. I didn't feel that any of the storylines were particularly captivating, though.

I cleaned out my shower, including the drain, which was a major accomplishment, and I remembered to go to the year-end band concert, even though I forgot to go to the yearly faculty photo. I uploaded a bunch of photos to my flickr page, but not enough to keep from falling a year behind. >.> I sold Kira and Minoru, although Minoru is on layaway, so his box will still be taking up space in my apartment for a few months. And another DoA user whose name starts with p and ends with adme79 was using MY photos to sell HER Minoru, which is NOT on.

About ten people came to my hanami party, and everyone said they had a good time, so I was happy. ^_^ The sakura where we were could have been more in bloom, but the weather was nice and the spot was peaceful, and even had a covered picnic table where the dolls could be safe from sun and dogs. Photos are here, but you probably need to be a member to see them.

I'm not really looking forward to going back to the grind, but at least this year I have no first period classes!

Edgeworth game GET!! Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] rkold! ^3^

I've been so busy lately that I can't even remember all of the stuff that I wanted to post about but was too busy doing to post. It's mostly doll stuff, I guess -- getting ready for Dolpa and the Yume no Grand Prince Hotel event, then going to the events, then shipping stuff out from the events, while keeping up with FCS, too.... And angsting over whether or not to get SD17 Hijikata and SDgr Okita takes up a lot of time and energy, too!

Anyway, I had a ridiculously fun time with Paulette and Mandy at the Yume no Grand Prince Hotel event. And I loved that I didn't have to pack a suitcase! Since the theme was Alice in Wonderland, we went dressed as Alice (me), the Mad Hatter (Paulette), and the Cheshire Cat (Mandy). We had cake for lunch, picked up our dollies, ate a fancy dinner with steak wrapped in pie crust, drooled over Hijikata and Okita, were awed by the one-off display, narrowly avoided a catastrophe at the candlelight party, enjoyed a flute and violin duet with fruity drinks, snuggled in our squishy hotel beds, and helped ourselves to a tray of neverending bacon at breakfast. It was great not having to get to Dolpa early and wait in line. I didn't win or buy anything at Dolpa, but it was fun hanging out. And I fell even more in love with the Black Peace Now skirt that I shouldn't have bought at Pure Sound, which is good, because it helps justify the price.

The other reason that I've been so busy lately is that I've been seeing a lot of movies. In addition to a whole bunch of movies that I want to see coming out all at once, there's the 10AM Classic Film Festival going on. So in a period of two weeks, I saw Rear Window, North by Northwest, Coraline, The Princess and the Frog, and Sherlock Holmes (oh my goodness, so very married, btw). And coming up is I Love You, Phillip Morris, Limelight, The Great Dictator, Some Like It Hot, Alice in Wonderland, and Trigun(!). And of course sumo and cherry blossoms, too! It looks like spring break is going to be every bit as relaxing as winter break was. :-; And every bit as expensive, too, since I'm buying 6 dolls this Saturday. x_x I think I need to bury my wallet.

I'm still in a whole lot of pain, but not as bad as yesterday.

And it shouldn't be physically possible, but Misha Collins gets more and more awesome with each episode of Supernatural. ♥

Merry Christmas, everybody! (Sorry to my Jewish friends, but I have no idea when Hanukkah is/was. ^^; ) I was supposed to go up to [livejournal.com profile] anruiukimi's, but was kept at home by a strange case of vertigo (and the billion things I have to do). It wasn't caused by seeing Avatar in 3-D, but that probably didn't help things. So why am I still up? Because I only just now finished my New Year's cards, which have to be mailed by today to be delivered on the 1st. @_@ Kyoto addresses are crazy! There was also a moment of panic when I realized I have no idea what honorific to use when addressing a letter to my students. So being the genius that I am, I wrote their addresses in kanji, but their names as "Miss Nantoka Daredare".

Anyway, hopefully some sleep will get me feeling back to normal. I'm going to be pissed if I'm still dizzy by the After Event.

• CLEAN. I want to use my kotatsu this winter!! (And also the cabinets that it's currently blocking.) I've decided on a regimen of cleaning for an hour every day on weekdays and two hours a day on weekends, but I keep finding too many excuses not to do it. I really need to force myself into that routine.

• Get back into writing. I'm having major mental blocks about it. RP with [livejournal.com profile] magicpotion is fine, but if I try to do any actual writing, my brain freezes up. How stupid is that! I'm a prize winning published author*, for crying out loud!

*First prize, Cricket Magazine monthly story contest, 1991

• Artsy crafty stuff. Need to clean first, because now there's no place to work.

• Eat better and exercise more. Apples and oranges are coming into season, so I want to get in the habit of eating more of them while they're "cheap". The pokéwalker has been encouraging me to walk more, but my clothes don't fit any easier yet. :/

• Do more fandomy stuff. This would be easier if every fandom ever didn't suck. Why can't everyone be as cool as (but not cooler than) me?

• Make more pointless LJ entries.

[edit] Oh hey, check it out, new icon.

The Prime Minister resigned AGAIN. From the little I understand about Japanese politics, he would have been kicked out anyway once the new ruling party came into power, but seriously, people. This is the third PM to resign since I've moved here. Acting all nicey-nice is so culturally ingrained that no one has the balls to stand up to a little criticism.

Anyway, I finally made my big trading post over at [livejournal.com profile] pokemon, and it went pretty well. My pokédex is at 401 seen, 350 obtained now. I also completed my berrydex and got some master balls to finally catch Mespirit and Cresselia, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] magicpotion. ♥

I also finally found a Firefox add-on that will block specific websites. I'm hoping I can finally kick the sf_drama habit now.

• The heat and humidity are killing me.
• Going up to Big Nag tomorrow for dollie and gay bar fun with [livejournal.com profile] triplepunch + SO, [livejournal.com profile] misspaulette, and [livejournal.com profile] anruiukimi.
• Had a truly awesome moment at karaoke when I found out you can get this song with the actual video.
• My cell phone is the best cell phone ever, because it now has a matching leopard print tail.
• Really looking forward to the new Pokéwalker, and hoping it will help spur me into both losing the weight I've gained, and getting to know Kyoto better.
• Kakigoori is the greatest invention ever.
• Mint Oreo McFlurries are good too.
Barney Frank is my hero. ♥

Sad face, for I have no more episodes of ST:TOS to watch. *emo tear* The final episode, though... lol forever. XD But I was disappointed that there was no money shot of girl!Kirk and his posse. Kirk and Spock were totally holding hands though, so that makes up for it. (The title also makes me want to rewrite it with Phoenix Wright characters.) Watching TOS only makes me appreciate even more how awesomely awesome Zachary Quinto was in XI. He really did his homework for that role. Oh, I can't wait for the wave of Star Trek doujinshi that I know is coming~~

RL has been so full of fail lately. Between sickness and stress and more sickness and insane humidity and laziness, I can't seem to do a single damn thing right. There have been a few cool happenings, though. I went to a kabuki production of Twelfth Night, which was awesome, and to a Hanshin Tigers game, which was also awesome. I met up with [livejournal.com profile] konoha for festivalness and purikura and TeniPuri karaoke, and [livejournal.com profile] misspaulette and I wore yukata to the Gion Matsuri parade (and had a really good purikura session afterwards). Yesterday's eclipse was pretty cool too, but of course it was overcast, so I could only catch a few glimpses of it.

In contrast to RL, Pokémon has been going awesome. I finally completely finished LeafGreen and transferred all my keepers to Diamond, and started playing Emerald. Emerald's keeping my interest a lot better, since it's not a rehash of something I've already played. And also because my game file is a Phoenix Wright AU where a Jirachi wish gone wrong has left Phoenix trapped in the body of Miles' Torchic. X3 Speaking of Jirachi... I has one! And yes, it's legit. Yay for Japanese wi-fi presents~ I also got the special Shokotan Pichu which lets you get the Gizamimi Pichu in GS. I haven't gotten movie Arceus yet, but I'll be doing that soon. I just hope that I don't actually have to sit through the whole movie to do it. :P I've also been getting a lot of good trades through GTS lately. Including an Usaring with Pokérus!!!! *throws confetti* So now all my pokes are infected/recovered. I also got a Shuckle named Noodle and a shiny Mew through [livejournal.com profile] pokemon. The Mew is hacked of course, but who cares? It's Mew! ♥ OH and they have so many new plushies at the Pokémon Center!! I got a Snorlax and a sleeping Gizamimi Pichu which is the CUTEST THING EVER. I'm thinking of getting a Magikarp next time, just for the lols. The Lapras is really cute, too....

I have ten dolls in my apartment right now. @_@ Six to send as soon as I hear back from their owners, one to sell because the original buyer flaked out on me, and three that are mine.

Thanks to the lovely [livejournal.com profile] usa_p, I was able to recover most of my lost photos. Even though my computer had already overwritten most of the data, I was able to pull them off my photo card. *hugs forever*

In other news, still way too stressed over stuff I need to catch up on from vacation. ~_~

I wish they would stop doing SPN flashbacks, because A) they steal my fic ideas, and B) the actors they get to play the Wee!chesters always suck. However, you'd think the writers could at least not make Dean OMGWTF!OOC.

Anyway, I got my contract extended for another year! \o/ Which is awesome because not only do I want to stay in Japan, but holy shit, the thought of going back to the States and trying to find a job in this climate is terrifying.

Looking at all the info for the Disneyland event makes me realize that I really do want to go to Tokyo Disney. As in, the actual park, not just sitting in the hotel and playing with dolls all day. But good Lord, the cost. x_x I know, you can cut it down a lot by not staying at the Disney hotel, but I WANT to stay at the Disney hotel! ;-; That's half the fun! Why can't they have an option that doesn't cost $500 a night???? Oh well, there's no point in regretting not getting park tickets with my Volks package, since there's no way in hell I could have taken any more days off of work right now. I'm lucky I got just the one.

Here's what I've learned about getting my ears pierced:
• Don't do it yourself.
• Go to a piercing place.
• Don't go to a piercing place because they are all operating without a license and your ears will get infected and fall off.
• Take the piercing kit to a doctor.
• Don't ever use a piercing kit, they will mutilate your ears and leave you permanently disfigured.

Also, dear whoever is in charge of the Tales of the Abyss title cards: LETTERS HAVE MEANINGS. Even if they are letters from a made-up alphabet. You've called at least the last five episodes "Water Metropolis", and it's starting to piss me off. >|

Apparently there is wank about the PW show? o_O

Anyway, I've been incredibly lazy lately, but I'm still on schedule with the senbazuru, and surprisingly, my Japanese course. I also got the most incredibly amazing doujinshi at Super Comic City. I wish I'd bought two copies so I could slice the binding off one and scan it. Oh yes! And I dragged [livejournal.com profile] rkold to Baby, The Stars Shine Bright and scored an Alice and the Pirates sweater. Wish their dresses would fit me.

Crane count: 409 down, 591 to go.

Who among the Japan peeps is NOT leaving the country for Christmas and New Year's and wants to do something together? I think maybe [livejournal.com profile] triplepunch and [livejournal.com profile] jougetsu are the only people this applies to....

So, thanks entirely to [livejournal.com profile] yhibiki, I downloaded Ai no Kotodama.

my thoughts on yaoi )

tl;dr GO WATCH IT NOW. >:E

In other news, I got good results on the mandatory company physical! It basically said, "Your weight in within the acceptable range. Please maintain it. Your blood sugar is a little low [a huge LOL for anyone who's spent a day with me], but you don't need to take any special measures. Please improve your eating habits by next time." The blood test was taken about 90 minutes after I'd had two chocopan for breakfast, too. XD

[edit] Icon. SEE, THIS IS WHAT YOU'RE MISSING OUT ON IF YOU DON'T WATCH IT.

I'm debating whether or not to go back to the doctor today. Since Monday, I've had both cold and flu symptoms, and throwing up would indicate that I've got both a cold and a stomach flu. Or it could have just been my stomach wanting to get in on the agony that the rest of my body was in. >_> I'm actually feeling much better since then, not just my stomach, but everything. Go figure. Still took a sick day though. :P

Sorry for the incoherent post.
