The worst thing about getting so caught up in a show, especially a show for US broadcast TV, is that the writers will drop characterization/canon integrity/etc. in a heartbeat if they think it'll make the show more popular (see Prince of Tennis, Smallville). Sam sleeping with a girl he just met? Um, no, not in a million years, even if he was attracted to her.

Ironically though, even this becomes Wincesty, since the only reason Sam was attracted to the chick is because she was in the same situation as he was, which made her the "Sam" and him the "Dean" of their relationship. So by sleeping with her, what he's really saying is that he wants Dean to sleep with him? (And it was so heartbreaking when Dean cried, not for the girl, but for Sam~ ;-;)

But the tough question is, when canon flies in the face of characterization, which do you follow?
