Star Wars Episode III

Went to see Star Wars with
paradoxthree tonight. It was about what I expected: not great, but something that has to be seen. The most annoying thing was that it could have been a really fantastic movie if it had just been done better. I noticed a few places where better editing and better choices of camera angles would have created a much more dramatic effect. The dialogue was pretty crappy, and the devolution of Padme's character from strong galactic leader to clingy subservient housewife just hurt. But I think the main thing that these three latest movies have lacked when compared to the originals is a sense of adventure in the telling of the story. In the originals, you didn't know where the characters were going or what was going to happen to them, but you discovered it along with them, like you were there with them. Episodes I-III feel more like a cinematic history book, reducing the story to a series of battles and events.
Still, when the mask goes on, and you hear that breathing for the first time.... There's no comparison to it.
