No amount of swearing could express my anger right now. My computer just ate 700 photographs. The most maddening part is that they were THERE. I even sent one to magicpotion. Then suddenly, the entire roll disappeared. All my pictures from Mount Fuji, Tokyo, Himeji, Nijo Castle light-up, etc. Fuck.

Before you type a lot, have you contacted someone who is good with computers to look into recovery since it's not like your entire drive went. There are programs that can sometimes recover things.

Have you been doing back ups?

I remember when I lost my hard drive and lost 9 months worth of data. It truly sucked.

I have (more than once, and god knows how) accidentally moved the entire contents of one folder into a completely unrelated folder and panicked.

The first thing I would do is just run a search for either one of the file names, or the date you imported the pictures and see if they pop up someplace strange.

Then I would do as suggested above, and try recovering deleted items with a program that can undelete. You have to do that ASAP though or you risk the data being overwritten.
